impression : 

 I took the first lesson of "DMM eikaiwa".

 I could hardly understand what she says, and I was not able to express what I wanted to say in English. But my English seemed to be understood. I have few expressions.("I see", "It's OK. ...) She is a public employee(teacher), so very well to teach English.

mistake : 

1. time out(25 minutes per lesson!)

 I took the second lesson of "DMM eikaiwa". My English seemed to be understood a same as last time. Unfortunately, my baby cried, and I had to finish the lesson halfway.

mistake : 

1. poor self-introduction(But better than last time)

2. I couldn't say "1 year old".

3. "Stepbrother" is male.

Learned expression :

 I became an official member of "DMM eikaiwa". I expected this lesson because the tutor was the first Nigerian to me. But the lesson was not interactive, and I'm disappointed. No pronunciation was pointed out in this time too.

3. The greeting at the end of the lesson was not good.

The tutor was excellent! She taught me enthusiastically. She listened to my introduction deeply, and asked me about my hobbies. It was the first experience to me. I'm glad.

I said my favorite detective novel is Agatha Christie, because her works are wonderful. She likes the movie,"50 first dates". It seemed to be a romantic comedy. I promised her, "I want to watch that movie as soon as finishing this lesson." So I have to fulfill the promise by the next lesson.

want to fix : 

1. I said Agatha Christie's works are smart. But I should choose the word, "wonderful" to express them.

2. I was not able to catch her word. I misunderstood "pleasure" as "pressure".  And the Itarian food "Lasagna" wasn't heard to me.

3. I should remember frequently used phrases.

The tutor is so funny. I really enjoyed her lesson. She has swam when she was a highschool student. I said, "I'm sad the Tokyo olympics have been postponed. I hope it will be held the next year." So she said, "Your English will be perfect the next year."

want to fix : 

1. I said "I have swimed when I was a junior high school student." But "swimed" is incorrect. The correct expression is "swam".

2. I was not able to catch her expression. "Do you like DMM-eikaiwa so far?"（これまで受けてきたDMM英会話は好きですか？） I should have answered "Yes, I do. I like DMM-eikaiwa for now."（今のところ好きです）

The lesson is a little difficult to me.  I didn't know if the words "lazy", "hard-working", "clever", "easygoing" were positive or negative. But the tutor answered my question, and I got it. I thaught she was so kind.

 I asked her "Is the "hard-working different from "over-working", and she answered, "hard-working is positive. It means work hard to appreciate. But over-working is negative. It means how to work to save stress."

And I asked, "If I want to praise my child, should I use "clever?", and she answered, ""smart" is better. But you can use "clever." The word has positive and negative meanings."

 She spoke so fast at the beginning of the lesson. But once I asked her to speak slower, she understood me. She was so fun and sometimes made a joke.; "We are very young." "Exactly!"

 She often pointed out my pronunciation ; middle-aged(t).  It's so cool. I will definitely book her class next time.

want to fix :  

I often say, "OK", "alright". But the expression, "I ready!" is useful.

textbook : conversation lesson52 "What Is Your Favorite Restaurant?"

conversation content : spices, dimsum, noodle, kikkoman

impression : 

 She talks like a machine gun. She teaches me about Philippine food culture.

 "Kikkoman" is known in the Philippines, but it is different from Japanese one because the Philippine one has chilisauce. I was asked by her to tell her milder soysauce, but I wasn't able to answer.

 I asked her was it bad manner to slurp noodles, and she answered that it is bad manner because the Philippines has been under Spain for 200 years. It is the spanish influence.

want to fix :  

 I'm not good at pronouncing "comfortable". It is "kumf-tu-bul".

 In the Philippins, it is bad manner to slurp noodles, but many Philippines understand it is a Japanese culture.

 The "kikkoman" is famous in Philippines, and it has hot chili sauce.

１週間DMM英会話でレッスンを受けて気づいたこと

１．あまりにも喋れないし聞き取れない

　半分予想していたことですが、この１週間は自分の英会話力の酷さに打ちのめされました💦

　例えば、"How are you?"って言われたら答え方はわかりますよね？　"I'm fine."とか"I'm good."とか答えて、"How about you?"や"And you?"と続ければOKです。

　だけど実践では色々な表現が飛び出すんですよ。

　"How was your day?"って聞かれる場合もあるし、"Can you hear me?"みたいに挨拶じゃなく回線が大丈夫かを聞かれる場合もあるんです。実際に大丈夫じゃなかったりしたらもうパニックです(^^;　他には"Call me ××. How should I call you?"とかって、呼び方を聞かれたりとか、そもそも全く何を言っているかすらわからなくて沈黙が続いたりｗ

　こんな風に何が飛び出すかわからない意味で、レッスン開始時の挨拶が一番緊張してしまいます。１週間経ってもドキドキですｗ

２．予習復習＆毎日受講が最善

　英会話の上達（improve my English skill）のために最重要なのは当然「熱意」です。そして熱意があるなら予習と復習は全く苦にならないはずです。

　私程度の初心者レベルだと、１回のレッスン内に必ず何か新しい発見があるんですよ。その発見をツイッターなりブログなりノートなりで再アウトプットして記憶を定着させることが大切なんです。

　そして事項で述べるとおり、復習に加えて予習もまた大事。

３．あらかじめ質問を３つくらいは準備しておくこと

　テキストを使う場合は、必ず予習するべきです。なぜならレッスンの中で先生から「質問はないですか？」と聞かれることが何度もあるからです。

　この時にあらかじめ考えておいた質問を投げかけることで会話の練習になりますし、自分の知らなかった海外の文化などを知ることもできます。また発音が間違っていれば指摘してもらえますし、先生の話す内容の中で知らない単語や表現が出て来たらそれについて重ねて質問することで新たな学びになるのです。先生側としても、たくさん質問してくれる生徒の方が教え甲斐があるというものです。

　そして何より、こちらから質問しなければ２５分間も時間が保ちませんｗ　時間が余った場合、先生にもよりますが恐怖の強制フリートークに突入する可能性があり、初心者は地獄のような目に遭うことでしょうｗ　それを避けるためにも少しでも質問は考えておきましょう。

４．先生による当たり外れがひどい

　これは本当です。上述の3dayの先生なんて全然やる気なくてこっちもまったく楽しくありませんでした。こちらが聞き取れないことをわかっているはずなのに同じ表現を小さい声で繰り返すばかりで、表現を変えたりチャットボックスを使ったりしてくれないんですから・・・。

　このように、先生による当たり外れはあるので、必ず評価が★4.9以上の先生を選択するようにしましょう。できれば評価詳細まで見て、全員が★４以上の評価を付けている先生が良いでしょう。人によっては、ある人からは★５だけどある人からは★１をつけられていたり、受講者のレベルや本人の気分によって評価が大幅に変動するタイプの先生もいるようなので、気を付けましょう。

　貴重なレッスンなのに変なのに当たるとテンションダダ下がりですからね～。

５．自己紹介は飛ばした方が得

　最初の数回は自己紹介ありでレッスンに入っていたのですが、途中からは辞めました。自己がやりたいのは自己紹介の上達ではなくて会話の上達なんです。みんなもそうでしょう？　そしてお互いの趣味とか好きなものなんて、レッスン中にこちらから質問すればわかることです。

　貴重な２５分間を自己紹介で消費するのはもったいないので、その分たくさん相手に問いかけをするべきです。

６．同じ教材を複数の先生にやってもらうのは効果的

　予習が追いつかずに良い質問が思い浮かばなかったため、泣く泣く前回やったのと全く同じ教材を選択したことが２回ほどありました。

　しかしこれが結構効果的で、同じ内容を扱ってるのに先生によって発音が違ったり授業の流れが違ったりするんですよ。飛び出てくるイディオムや単語もそれぞれですし、教材の内容をより深めながら新たな学びまで得られるため、これは意外に悪くない選択だと思います。

　とまあ思いつく限り書きましたが、私が１週間で気づいたことはこれくらいでしょうか。まだまだわからないことだらけなので、次の１週間が終わったらまた気づいたことをまとめることにします。

DMM英会話はコスパ最高

　DMM英会話を始めてから、予習、復習、このブログでのまとめの合計で、１日２時間くらいは英語にコミットすることになっています。通勤自転車の行き帰り中も、前日覚えた表現だったり会話内容だったりを発音を意識しながら口ずさんでいることを考えれば、それ以上かもしれません。

TOEIC９００点を狙います

に書いた通りでTOEICにはそれほど力を入れるつもりがなかったのですが、せっかく英語やるからにはモチベーションを上げる意味でもわかりやすいスコア目標があると良いのかなと思い直した次第です。

　私の最高スコアは大学１年生の頃の７３０点ですが、今の感触だと２年後くらいには９００点に届くんじゃないかな？と漠然と思っています。（私のこの感触は結構当たるんですよ。コミット当初に「これは絶対無理だ」と思ったのは社労士試験だけです(^^;　あれは超難度すぎですし、熱意も湧きませんでしたね・・・。）

　もちろん、TOEICは試験ですので対策を取らないと高得点は期待できません。特にリーディングセクションは完全に情報処理ゲーなので、英語力そのものとは別の練習が必要になってきます。それは追々対策するとして、とりあえずはDMM英会話を継続し、リスニング能力を地道にアップさせていくことを目指します！
